CALENDAR LOYOLA SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

 

 

The Guidance Department works to foster the total development of all students in conjunction with administrators, staff, parents and community agencies. The Guidance department is there to help students learn how to assess their own competencies, characteristics and aspirations. With the assistance of qualified counselors, student will explore a broad range of work, learning and community- life options. Courses offered through the Guidance Department will allow the students to acquire an understanding of the changing nature of work and the challenges and opportunities that they may encounter in the modern economy. Counselors will assist students in developing learning skills and strategies they can use in secondary and post- secondary education.

Students should be aware of the upcoming changes that will affect them in regards to their Ontario Student Transcripts. Full disclosure on student transcripts of Grade 11 and 12 results is part of the new high school program. Students are advised to make appropriate subject selections from the courses available in Grades 11 and 12.

Goals:

The goals of the guidance and career education program are that students: 

  • UNDERSTAND the concepts related to lifelong learning, interpersonal relationships (including responsible citizenship) and career planning;

  • DEVELOP learning skills, social skills, a sense of social responsibility, and the ability to formulate and pursue educational and career goals;

  • APPLY this learning to their lives and work in the school and the community.
